You get only the highest quality coffees from around the world
We purchase and trade in coffees from over twenty different countries, roast for internet sales 22 gourmet coffees - 11 organics and 9 blends – and over 36 flavored coffees . We pay our producers the stipulated Fair Trade Price plus bonuses, thus providing them an income substantially above that which they would receive from the “coyotes”, who have preyed for years on the smaller, less fortunate and less organized growers. Unless there is no other source for a desired type of bean, we buy no beans from large coffee plantations.
We buy beans from small family, or co-op groups
A difficult task to undertake, we buy beans from small family, or co-op, groups who still plant their coffee with no chemical fertilizers under shade trees, to be fertilized by indigenous birds, They still prepare their beans for sale using the age-old hand washed, or sun dried method. Small family units, though somewhat anachronistic in today’s world, still believe in producing and processing their coffee in the manner of their ancestors. Thus, their coffees are greatly superior to the products of the mass roasters, as is shown in competitions around the world.
Our Roastmaster
Sr. Jose Luis Perez - with over 20 year's experience - is a man who, by his own admission, "dreams about coffee" He tells by the look of the bean, the color of it, and the smell - whether roasted or green - its country of origin; and if roasted, he can tell how long ago. A true MesoAmerican by lineage, He takes meticulous care of "his" roasters and his coffee inventory; and "cups" every roast, whether large or small. He has roasted in locations all over South America, and Mexico. He loves his job, is a stellar addition to Coffee Importers' staff, and truly has an encyclopedic knowledge of coffees from all continents. We don't think there are many like him anywhere.
